Correct selection of efficient motors according to operational requirements can lead to accurate use of energy and savings in electricity costs. These savings could be even improved further with the use of inverters (frequency controllers, VFDs)

With use high efficiency motors;

• The same work that the motor will do can be done with less electricity consumption,
• The saved energy enables the return of the investment in a short time, while decreased production costs could increasing competitiveness of the enterprise,
• Utilization of more efficient motors would enable adherence to government’s energy saving policies which change frequently over time,
• With the use of permanent magnet motor (PMM) motors, energy efficiency level over IE5 can be achieved,

With the use of a drive (inverter/variable frequency converter);

• The mechanical and electrical stresses at the motor start and stop times could be reduced to extend run-life of the motor,
• Possible issues during motor operation can be detected by the soft-starter and drive, while the related issues can be prevented automatically or the operator can be warned before the related issues grow,
• For applications that requires dynamic changes in motor operation parameters, the drive could manage the speed and electrical values which are provided to the motor, automatically,
• Electricity can be saved when the driver manages the motor according to dynamic power requirements of the application,
• With the use of regenerative drives, electricity is produced from the applications containing kinetic energy, then the generated electricity could be fed back to the grid.
